Sunday stills – Sports

Sara has taken over challenging us at Sunday stills, and this weekend she’s honoring the olympics by telling us to post sport pictures. I was planning on taking some shots on my Wednesday golf round, but forgot everything about it as soon as I teed off. The only other sports I’ve seen this week has been on TV (I had no idea that trampoline was an olympic event, I’ll make sure to inform my bouncing niece), and photos of our tv aren’t that interesting.

So, for me this week’s challenge became an archive event. And because golf is the sport that I both play and love to watch, they’re all golf related. Check out Sunday stills if you want to see what sports other bloggers have posted.

I love his hat!
He was the starter at The National Junior Golf Championship in Stavanger in 2007. The kids all loved the cap too.

Time for golfOne of the things I love about golf is that it suits all ages. The next photo is also from 2007. My then 7 year old niece thought that crocs were the perfect golfing shoes. She’s gotten over that particular habit and is now usually wearing sneakers and very cool sunglasses, but the long blond hair still flies all over the place when she’s swinging.

Golfing in crocsI also really like that we can play together even if we are on different levels. On Wednesday I played with a complete novice who was on her first 18 hole round ever, and Mia who is a single handicaper. We all had fun.
The photo is of Mia earlier this year when her tee shot found a slightly akward lie beside the very narrow fairway on hole no. 8 at Bjørnefjorden GK. The narrowest part of this fairway is only about 6 meters (20feet) wide so there’s not much room. This is actually a good tee shot on this hole and a little slope and some rough is not enough to scare anyone accustomed to playing at Bjørnefjorden.

Mia getting out of troubleAnd now, back to the Olympics. At least as soon as the men’s tennis finale gets underway. That’s a match I’ll make sure to watch.

  1. Very cool, I miss playing golf, back in the 90′s I used to play every day or so, even if it was just going to the range to hit a bucket of balls..:-)

  2. I was never very good at golf, but when I lived in Florida, I would head out to the course because that was a chance to visit with my parents when they were on vacation.

  3. Nice job with the challenge. Your niece looks like a natural, even in crocs. How wonderful you get to share your love of golf together!
