Sunday stills – Fade into Black

Linda and Ed has decided to pull out of organizing Sunday stills. That is really sad, but I do understand that time and life has a tendency to get in the way. I haven’t been taking part for that long, but I thank them for all the work they’ve done.

The good news is that Sara (aka The Crazy Sheep Lady) has said she’ll take over, so hopefully the challenge will continue. I’m looking forward to that.

My photo this week is a collage of a bunch of shots I took of the waxing moon at the end of May. It’s not often that we get 10 consecutive nights of clear skies, and it was an opportunity too good to waste. It was also good training for me in using my tripod, remote control and the live view on my camera to make sure I had the moon in focus. I also tried with different ISO and time settings, and all in all had a lot of fun. It also made med me ache for a bigger lens than 270mm. :-)   I considered to use the monochrome version of this collage, but ended up with the color version today. even though the monochrome one might have been more true to the challenge.

I hope that some time I’ll get an opportunity to do something similar with the waning moon. We’ll see.

This is a small version of the collage, so click the photo if you want to see the original.

  1. Excellent collage!!! Sunday Stills will live on with a new host starting this week.:-)

  2. Wonderful series!! I don’t have the equipment to capture the moon, so all moon shots amaze me – and yours are outstanding!
