Ed obviously doesn’t live in Norway… He was complaining about the heat (definitely not in Norway) and set us the task of finding some winter pics from our archives to post for this week’s Sunday stills.
The winter of 2009/2010 gave us more than 90 days running with snow on the ground, and that was a new record for Bergen. As winter went by the heaps of snow got larger and larger. Not my favorite winter. The next winter wasn’t quite as bad, but made it to second place on the lists after the previous year.
So, my three pictures today are all from 2010 and those two long winters.
January 31st. 2010 – Kristin is shoveling snow of the car after a visit to my mother’s.
It was cold and it took us a while to get all the snow off.
On February 24th 2010 I stopped at Vestkanten shopping center on my way home from work. It was another day with snow and I took this picture of the bus stop from inside the shopping center. We still had weeks of snow to go before spring finally got here.
The next winter started off with freezing temperatures from late October. At the beginning of December people were allowed to walk on Lille Lungegårdsvann in the center of Bergen. It was more than 20 years since last time it was safe to do that.

Wow, that really looks cold and uncomfortable.
I prefer summer as well, but your photos are lovely, especially the last one.
I prefer summer too but there are some great photo opportunities in the winter. The frozen lake is great.
Winter will be here before you know it. I’m so over it.
Your shots are very nice. You have much colder winters in Berlin than we do here in East Tennessee.
Great shots, I prefer winters, i guess I’m a bit odd..:-)
Wow!! no one ever posted that Winter night shot, great one
