My snapshots this week are from Larvik, a town in Vestfold that we are visiting for the weekend. We arrived last night and are staying until tomorrow. The hotel, Farris Bad, is very nice. We’ve already used the spa facilites once, and will do the same again later tonight.
Yesterday Larvik had thunder, lightning and lots of rain. The worst of the weather had passed when we got here, but the surf was still up. I didn’t get a picture of the surfers that arrived a bit after the first two pictures were taken, but we did see them from the hot tub in the spa.
So, here you are, waves breaking under our hotel.
Today we played golf at Larvik golfklubb. In the proshop the told us that yesterday they had ducks swimming in the bunkers. Some of the bunkers hadn’t drained yet, but no ducks were swimming in them today.
Maybe the bunkers could have benefited by the draining system that this water hazard has. The water were running through this hole and came out in a creek on the other side of the path. Looked cool too, like a little whirlpool.
After the golf Kristin and I went for a walk in the beech forest. This is the worlds second northmost natural beech forest. The only one further north is the one at Seim, just north of Bergen.
From several places in the forest you can see the town and the Larvik fjord.
Then we came back to the hotel. It’s been a windy day, but the fjord was a lot calmer than yesterday and the water looked inviting.
Well, time to get some dinner.
To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme you must post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky at that Saturdays Snapshot post at At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and can be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. All Alyce asks is that you don’t post random photos that you find online.
What fun architecture with the hotel! And the forest looks beautiful.
What a fabulous location, a little of everything. Great photos.
My favorite is the shot of the water through the trees. Beautiful!
Here’s my
Saturday Snapshot. I hope you will stop by!
Oh my goodness, it would be so strange to see the waves breaking under the hotel!
These are great — love the tall trees the best.
Love the forest pictures in particular – the forest looks so cool and shady.
Great shots. I love the look of the hotel over water.
