Book beginnings on Friday – June 8th. 2012

It’s been a while since I last joined this meme, but this week I’m back.

A bunch of us readers are sharing the first lines of a book and we all link up at the Linky at Rose City Reader, take a trip over there to see the beginnings of other books. Everyone is welcome to join us.

I’ve just started reading The Revisionist by Thomas Mullen, so it’s only natural that you get to enjoy the beinning of it.

A trio of bulbous black SUV’s passes sleekly by, gliding through their world like seals. The city shines liquidly off their tinted windows, the yellow light from the towers and the white lights from the trees and the red lights they ignore as they cruise through the intersection with a honk and a flash of their own beams. People on the sidewalk barely give them a glance.

So far, around page 60, it’s really interesting. We’ll see.

  1. That is a great opening. The book is science fiction? Not my usual genre, but my son always tells me I should branch out.

  2. I’m not familiar with this book, but the beginning seems quite interesting. Hope you continue to enjoy it and have a great weekend.

  3. Hi Eva,

Great opening lines, they really had me hooked and needing to know just who is behind that tinted glass and where the convoy is heading for. You usually only hear reference to this kind of set up when heads of state are involved?

Actually, I sneaked a peek at the full book synopsis as well, so I know the answer. I wasn’t sure whether I was so keen to read it, when I discovered that it is designated as a science fiction book, as well as a suspense.

Those lines have got me so hooked though, that I may be able to overcome the science fiction bit, if the suspense angle is strong enough, perhaps I will wait for your review!
