Saturday snapshot – May 5th. 2012

This week all my pictures are from today. Some taken with my DSLR and some with my phone. The motives are familiar: Solan, view and a little weather.

We start off with the regatta on the fjord:

While the sailors were getting cold Solan was playing.

And then it started snowing so badly that we could hardly see the houses close to us.

May snow.

May snow.As I write this the snow is gone, I can see glimpses of blue sky between the clouds and Solan is giving himself a bath.

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme you must post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky at that Saturdays Snapshot post at At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and can be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. All Alyce asks is that you don’t post random photos that you find online.

  1. What a beautiful cat! Lively indeed. And the boats and the water are lovely. And snow in May. Here in Texas, we’re up above 90 degrees and will likely stay that way until probably late October or November. Sigh.

  2. It was a bit of a shock seeing snow after those beautiful boats on the sea. Solan certainly looks comfy after all the jumping around.

  3. I adore Solan! Your photography of the sailing boats and ship are wonderful. It’s 90+ degrees where I am at and was surprised to see the snow.

    • A bit of an unpleasant surprise to us too, but definitely not unknown at this time of year. 90+ sounds a bit too hot :-)

  4. It is hard to imagine these photos are from the same day – from sailing to snow! I love the shot of the cats paw pushing off the cushion!

    • A bunch of shots and a few turned out good. That’s the way with playing cats. I’ve no idea what they did before digital cameras ;-)

  5. What great pictures once again! I got excited about the sailboats but then . . . snow?! What’s going on over there? It looks a lot like Ontario ;)

  6. I love Solan and the bright orange cushion! I’m shocked though at the turn in the weather – it looked like such a beautiful day and suddenly snow and lots of it?! WOW!

  7. What exciting variety in your day! I love the regatta photos, but I think my favorites are the cat dashing across that orange chair.

  8. What a great way to spend the day!! I love water, boats and snow!! Looks like Solan had a great time too!

  9. How beautiful! Don’t ever tell me where you live, because I’ll show up to “visit” and never leave! :) Solan is a handsome feline specimen.

  10. I wish that cats could converse with us because I think they would have great one liners.

  11. I love the photo of Solan taking a nap. It’s Sunday afternoon here… I think Solan had a wonderful idea!

  12. A regatta and snow flurries? Such beauty and opposites on the same day amazes me! Lovely-lovely pictures.

    :)

  13. I love these shots, but ESPECIALLY those of Solan.
WOW — that is a cat on the move.
98% of ANY shots of my own ragdoll Jack would be like the last one…… total snoozeville!
    Is Solan…….. solar powered?

    • I don’t think so, he seems to move equally well when it’s raining ;-)
It’s just that I love to try to take pictures of him when he’s racing around, so much more fun and challenging than the “pose” shots. You need good light, AF-servo and a fast shutter speed, and you can’t be too fuzzy about the background. Whatever’s there is there.
There’s comparatively few shots of cats in action out on the interwebs, probably because they’re harder to get, but I love it when I see some. It’s fun to see how agile the cats really are.
