Today I have two pictures taken last night. They were both taken with the camera on a tripod using a remote control and mirror lock up to get as little vibration as possible on a low ISO (100) and long shutter time (8 and 13 seconds). I’m trying to learn how to take good night pictures, and I’m definitely better at it than I was a few months ago. Still, most of the pictures taken last night were not worth keeping, mostly because of vibration or wrong exposure.
What was left of the sunset over Erdal.
When I started out the sky was clear, but then some light clouds came along and actually made this shot a lot cooler than the previous clear ones.
To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme you must post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky at that Saturdays Snapshot post at At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and can be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. All Alyce asks is that you don’t post random photos that you find online.

I need more practice taking night pictures. Those are wonderful!
I have a lot to learn about photography, but I love these shots! The moon set against the clouds looks like a painting…it would look great as a book cover. A book about ghosts, werewolves, etc. lol
Thanks for sharing. Here’s MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
Thanks for visiting
My Texas morning snapshot today. I love your photos, very well done. I especially LOVE the Moon. Totally awesome.
I’m so jealous of your good camera and your good photos. Love the moon with the clouds. Here’s Mine
Beautiful shots! Thanks for the settings in procedure info too!
Great moon shot with clouds. I need to learn to use my camera at night.
What a beautiful moon shot. And the city lights look great too!
Spectacular! I’m a night person but my night photos are never any good. Except, a year ago I was patient and persistent while on the Brooklyn Bridge at night and I got some good ones. But it was pure luck. Expertise did not enter into it.
Oh, wow!!! I love your pictures! There’s so much in each shot it makes me ache inside!
That looks like some fun experimenting! I thought at first the glow in the distance in the first photo was a distant city. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a dark sky with just a bit of sunset left like that before.
wow – that shot of the moon is beautiful. Night shots are very hard to get right but this looks great!
Clouds can have such an effect on a photo. Great shots!
Great shots!!
Here’s My Photo
You did a great job on these! I love night shots (being a night owl myself), but have hit-or-miss luck on how they turn out. Here’s my Snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2012/04/saturday-snapshot-april-28.html
That’s the way I used to do it, and it was mostly miss. More fun and more hits now that I’m starting to know what I’m doing
Those are beautiful! The second one is absolutely stunning! I’m still struggling with the moon.
What great skyline shots and shots of the moon. Terrific job.
I love that moon shot. It looks like a lovely night.
