Saturday snapshot – April 7th. 2012

I took this photo of my youngest brother’s ship Straumvik as they were heading home last night. My brother owns two cargo vessels this size, M/S Straumvik and M/S Roslagen. He took over the business when my father retired.

I had some fun with the picture in Flick’s new photo editing tool Aviary. So the picture might look old, but is in fact taken less than 24 hours ago :-)

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme you must post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky at that Saturdays Snapshot post at At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and can be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. All Alyce asks is that you don’t post random photos that you find online.

  1. I love the composition of this photo … the shape and color of the ship give the photo motion.

  2. Great photo, but it’s showing up as a broken link for me. (At least until I clicked on it.)

  3. I don’t edit my photos that much, a bit of cropping or straightening- but this effect does look cool.

    • The same here. But, I just got Aviary on Flickr and decided to see what it could do, without knowing if I wanted to use everything. This effect looked good on this picture as it let the red color of the boat stand out, and I wanted that.

    • Yes.
I got curious about Instagram after your comment and installed it on my Android phone. And, yes, many of the effects are very similar :-)
