Booking through Thursday – Recommendation

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme in which we answer a question about books or reading. Go over there and check out the other answers.

This week we’re asked:

If someone asked you for a book recommendation, what is the FIRST book you’d think to recommend (without extra thought)?

That’s a tough one really.

I’m a librarian and get asked for book recommendations all the time. My answers vary depending on the reader. I try to find out if it’s for an assignement, and if it’s not I try to find out if they’re looking for something special, what they like, and other things that can help me make a good recommendation. So, I have a hard time recommending just one book without knowing who’s going to read it.

To be honest I just can’t do it…..

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog today! You’re right, it does depend on the person. If I know someone’s taste is similar to mine it is much easier for me to recommend books to them.

  3. It is a tough one. I said The Hobbit, but I realise it’s not for everyone either. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier.

  4. I usually adjust my recommendations according to who’s asking but in this case I just went with the first thought which was the book I’m currently reading. Here’s mine
