Three different pictures today:

The coastal steamer Nordstjernen has been sailing along the Norwegian coast for 56 years, doing about 1500 round trips Bergen – Kirkenes – Bergen. On Thursday she arrived in Bergen for the last time after completing another round trip and now she’s headed for retirement. That doesn’t mean she won’t be sailing anymore. She’ll be cruising at Svalbard this summer. I captured her heading north from Bergen yesterday afternoon. She’s a grand old lady.

Nordstjernen heading north.Yesterday was georgeous, and Nordstjernen wasn’t the only one heading north on the fjord.

KayakingPeople were having fun on dry land too. I discovered this skateboarder and his friends outside the courthouse in Bergen. It’s was fun to try to catch them in the air.

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme you must post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky at that Saturdays Snapshot post at At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and can be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. All Alyce asks is that you don’t post random photos that you find online.

  1. I see you are having great weather too. The sea looks so calm. And nice action shot of the skateboarder.

  2. I love the contrast of the ship and kayak! Reminds me of the time we rounded a bend in the river in our boat and almost ran into a huge barge. Can you say scary? Thank goodness the river was wide enough that we could quickly get to the side.

That’s a great shot of the skateboarder!!

  3. Wonderful shots! I love the elegance and grace of the old ship…and then you’ve captured a modern-day sight with the skateboarder. Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

  4. The water shots are my favorite. The skateboard action shot is neat too though, and makes me wonder what happened next.

    • He stayed on his feet after landing, but not on the board. Guess he needs to practice a bit more.

  5. These are terrific shots. You must have a great camera to have caught the last one without any blurring of the image. Excellent work!

    • I have a Canon EOS 600D, and I’m taking a photo class so I’m starting to know what alle the buttons and numbers mean :-)
