Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme in which we answer a question about books or reading. Go over there and check out the other answers.
This week we’re asked:
Ever read a book you thought you could have written better yourself?
No!
I’ve read lots of bad or not-so-good book, but I’m realistic enough about my own writing abilities (in any language) to know that I couldn’t have been a better author than the one the book already had.
But, in some cases, I think that I could have been a better editor/publisher than the one the book had. Sometimes the book is “almost” good, and you get the feeling that you a few more tweaks would have done the trick. Then it’s the editor/publishers job to tell the author that those tweaks are needed.
Yeah, some of those books really need better editors more than anything.

I feel the same way at times! What are some editors doing?!
But I agree with I’m not confident enough in my writing skills to be able to write a story better than a professional author.
I don’t think I can write a not-so-good book even in my own tongue. Great editors are precious gems in the writing industry.
