A bunch of us readers are sharing the first lines of a book and we all link up at the Linky at A Few More Pages. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Yesterday I started reading Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne-Jones, one of my favorite YA authors. Sadly she died in March 2011, but her books live on.

When Jocelyn Brandon died – at a great old age, as magicians tend to do – he left his house and his field-of-care to his grandson, Andrew Brandon Hope. Andrew himself was in his thirties. The house, Melstone House, was a simple matter of making a Will. But it had been old Jocelyn’s intention to pass the field-of-care on in the proper way, personally.

  3. Looks interesting! In my mind I am combining the first sentence with that picture on the cover and trying to figure out what is going on!
