We’ve had some more adventures.
Sunday we spent in the oldest part of Los Angeles. Olvera Street is full of shoppers and Kristin bought a nice leather handbag. At the plaza there were people dancing and the catholics had a service in La Placita Church (La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ángeles). They all had some sort of braided palm branches, it being palm Sunday and all. Then we had lunch a Philippe’s, good as always.
On Monday we went to Joshua Tree National Park a bit further inland. We left behind a city were it was drizzling in places and entered the desert.
Tuesday we drove through the Palm Springs area on our way back to LA. I wouldn’t mind retiring to a place like this. Nice temperatures and a 100 golf courses within a few miles is just my thing…
Yesterday we went shopping. When we came home with our things we started packing to see how much extra luggage Mum and Dick would have to take when they make a short stop in Bergen in June. It looks like we’ll get almost everything in our luggage, but a few items will have to wait til June. Then we had dinner with Glenda and family, always very nice. The 2000-piece puzzle on their kitchen table is getting close to finished. No thanks to me, but Kristin has the patience for this kind of thing.
Today we went to The Getty Center – museum, research institute and conservation institute for art. It’s really worth a visit if you ever get to LA. Lots of good art (they’ve aquired some great new paintings), great architecture and a absolutely wonderful location.

View to the north - the 405 freeway leads thousands of car through the Sepulveda pass between LA and The San Fernando Valley.
